At Mirror in the Sky, doing good brings good. Our purpose extends beyond creating beautiful, handcrafted products; it's about driving sustainable progress and supporting the well-being of the communities we work with. Through craftsmanship, we aim to make a meaningful difference, and by partnering with organizations that share our values, we show how every action can have a positive impact, where good deeds ripple outwards to benefit everyone.
What does it mean to ethically contribute to our community?
Ethical contribution means acting with responsibility and social awareness—not just in how we make our products but also in how our choices impact the community and the environment. We focus on creating value chains that foster opportunities, empower people, and promote sustainable practices. Our commitment to ethics and sustainability is a core part of our mission.
Meet our ethical partner: General Welfare Prathisthan (GWP)
Our main factory in Nepal is a shining example of our"Craft with a Purpose" philosophy. We collaborate closely with General Welfare Prathisthan (GWP), an organization that produces high-quality, sustainable handmade paper and addresses social development issues in Nepal.
GWP actively works in areas like:
Girls' education: Empowering girls through access to education is key to developing sustainable and resilient communities. We support programs that promote equal educational opportunities for girls across Nepal.
HIV/AIDS awareness: Through community outreach and education, GWP works to spread awareness about HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment, helping to dispel myths and reduce the stigma associated with the disease.
Programs against girls' trafficking: Combating human trafficking is a priority. GWP's efforts focus on protecting vulnerable girls and women by raising awareness and supporting those affected.
Sustainability and reforestation: Sustainable handmade paper production depends on eco-friendly practices. Tree planting and the search for greener production methods are fundamental to our environmental commitment and sustainability.
How handcrafting supports community and change
Every product crafted in our factory reflects the collective effort, cultural heritage, and a shared vision for a better future. Handcrafting doesn't just add value to materials—it also adds value to people: their skills, their stories, and their ability to positively impact their surroundings.
When you choose sustainable, handcrafted products, you're supporting not just the artisans behind them but also a whole chain of efforts that strive to make the world a better place. Our partnership with GWP exemplifies how ethical business can make a lasting, meaningful impact on entire communities.
